Saucy Asian Tacos With Chicken And Crunchy Slaw
These Asian tacos are amazing and you need them in your life. There’s just something about the saucy, flavorful chicken paired with crunchy Asian-inspired slaw. Shove it all into a warm tortilla and prepare to feast. You can prepare the Asian tacos in just 30 minutes and serve them with 2-3 friends.
Ingredients for Asian tacos
For the chicken:
– 2 cups chicken breast, cubed;
– 1 tablespoon coconut oil;
– 2 tablespoons fresh ginger, diced;
– 3 garlic cloves, diced;
– 1 teaspoon sriracha;
– 3 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce;
– 1/8 teaspoon salt;
– 1/8 teaspoon sugar;
– 1/4 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds;
– 1/8 teaspoon powdered onion;
– 1/2 teaspoon toasted coconut;
– 1/8 teaspoon brown sugar;
– 1/8 teaspoon crushed red pepper;
– 1/8 teaspoon paprika.
Instead of throwing 1,000 spices into the chicken, you can use a pre-mixed Asian seasoning like “Simply Asia Sweet Ginger Garlic Seasoning” and “Simply Asia Spicy Szechwan Five Spice Seasoning.”
For the slaw:
– 1 cup red cabbage, shredded;
– 1/2 cup carrots, shredded;
– 1/4 cup green onion, chopped;
– 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped;
– 1 red pepper, thinly sliced;
– 1/2 poblano, thinly sliced;
– 3 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce;
– 1 tablespoon honey;
– 1 tablespoon sesame oil;
– 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar;
– 1/2 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced;
– 1 teaspoon black pepper.
For serving:
– Tortillas;
– Sriracha.
Preparation
How to make the slaw: Combine all slaw recipes in a bowl. Let marinate for 30 minutes or up to 3 hours in the fridge.
How to make the chicken:
1. Heat coconut oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
2. In a bowl, mix together salt, sugar, sesame seeds, onion powder, toasted coconut, brown sugar, crushed red pepper and paprika.
3. Add chicken, ginger, garlic, sriracha and soy sauce to the bowl. Mix well until combined.
4. Transfer chicken mixture into the skillet; cook for 7-12 minutes, stirring occasionally until chicken is cooked through.
How to assemble the tacos: Fill tortilla shells with chicken and slaw. Top with sriracha, if desired. Serve.
