How To Start Working Out To Lose Weight At Home
Trying to figure out how to start working out to lose weight? Losing weight is often seen as a process which involves following a lot of strict diets and starvation. Well, that is not exactly the case.
Losing weight is a scientific process and can be achieved through logical methods, without making your body undergo some adverse and rigorous measures.
Because of our eating habits that we develop since our childhood, our body has certain number of fat cells. These cells are used by the body to store energy or fat and remain the same throughout the adult life.
These cells are used only when required by the body like if you starve yourself, etc. to generate energy to sustain yourself.
This was a viable thing to do in the Neolithic age when food was rarely available and when people had to hunt in order to eat and survive. This is not applicable now and such drastic methods in fact harm the body.
Thus, to maintain your health and lose weight, it is necessary to exercise and follow a healthy diet.
How To Start Working Out
When thinking about how to lose weight, the first thing you need to consider and devote time to is exercise.
Nowadays, due to our busy schedules as well as the lifestyle we lead, we have to carve out time to exercise in order to burn fat cells. This is because we are barely active in our daily life which is why we need to exercise.
Instead of walking to work, we drive to work. Instead of taking the stairs to reach our destinations, we prefer elevators. This is in sharp contrast to the Stone Age where our ancestors had to be active all the time to forage for food.
When we are active or work out, we literally breathe out our fatty cells.
During a workout, the metabolism speeds up as the body burns the fuel present in order to supply with the high energy needs. Our body stores ATP (adenosine triphosphate) in the muscles but the supply is short and the energy demand is high.
So it resorts to the carbohydrates and the fats stored in the body, burns it in order to supply energy. Thus, exercising helps monumentally if you are wondering how to lose weight via workouts.
What Are The Exercises That Help Lose Weight?
No matter what exercise you aim for, it is bound to burn up the calories in one form or the other. How much you burn per session depends upon various factors like your age, your workout regime, fitness level, etc.
However, there are some exercises which help you lose a bit faster than others and are really effective. Here they are:
1. Cardio Exercises
Cardio is great for getting your heart rate up. It helps use up the fat cells and burns up the calories really fast. The exercises that you can perform under this are limitless.
Anything you do that is fast and gets your heart rate up is considered as cardio. This can even involve weight lifting, provided you do it fast enough. However, some really good cardio exercises are:
- Jumping jacks;
- High knees which involves jumping on the spot to bring your knees fairly high up;
- Burpees;
- Push ups;
- Squats.
Try to do as many repeats as possible and try and beat your own stats to push yourself and burn more calories. Here is a great cardio workout you can do at home:
2. Running
If you are wondering how to lose weight, then the best way to do so is by running. It is the best form of cardio available and is guaranteed to use up the fat cells in your body.
At first it will be a bit of a challenge. But once you get used to it, it will feel good to put your trainers on and just run.
However, your body might get acclimatized to it easily and thus it is essential to mix it up to ensure that you face a challenge while running. Running will get you a thinner body but jogging will help you get rid of your bulkiness.
3. Strength Training
Strength training is efficient if you want to know how to lose weight without the cardio part. For this, you can use body weights workout for 30-40 minutes every day and use weights and dumbbells to perform exercises like push ups, pull-ups, squats, etc.
Here is a great example of a strength training with just 4 simple moves:
However, simply exercising won’t make you lose weight and get you a thinner body. You need to mix it up with a high protein diet to do so.
How Intense Should Your Workouts Be?
Go for high intensity training if you are on strict schedule. This allows you to burn up more calories in a short period of time. Set a goal and try to break your stats each time you go for work out.
Sticking to single workout regime won’t help you. Your body will get used to it and you will have to search for new options for how to lose weight. The key to losing weight is mixing and matching various methods and avoiding the same pattern. You can do this by:
- Increasing the number of reps;
- Decreasing the interval time;
- Increasing the number of sets;
- Making your workouts more challenging;
- Doing it faster or slower.
The more confused your body is, the better it is for you. If you want to know how to lose weight, remember that exercise is the key to losing those extra pounds and look fabulous!
How About Supplements?
Now there are hundreds of ads on TV about weight loss pills and blended drinks. There are even people claiming they’ve lost 30-40 pounds with some miracle drinks.
I don’t want to say that these “shortcuts” won’t work for you. I just want to say that everyone is different, and what worked for one person might not work for you.
Also, don’t rely on these slimming pills, because they won’t help you slim down if a proper diet isn’t followed. They might help speed up the fat burning process, but if your diet isn’t a healthy one, there’s nothing to speed up.
In conclusion, I don’t recommend weight loss supplements at all. Following a healthy diet will definitely help you lose weight, and this should be the only way to do it.
Once you’ve reached your desired weight, you might want to define your muscles. In this stage, you’re going to focus on your workout more than on your diet. Of course, a proper, nutritious diet is required, but your workout is the one that pumps your muscles up.
Also, some muscle building supplements such as Nitrocut will help you maximize your workout results. Just remember, taking supplements without working out and following a healthy diet will never help you lose weight and gain muscle mass. Supplements are acting as a catalyst helping you speed up the process.
But more about supplements and how to start working out to build muscle mass will be included in a future article. For now, let’s hope you have the basics on how to start working out to lose weight at home, in your own comfort. Stay fit!
