Ways To Stay Fit That Don’t Feel Like Exercise
Staying fit doesn’t have to mean endless burpees or hours on the treadmill. You can definitely get in shape while having fun at the same time.
There is no end to ways to keep your bones strong, your muscles toned, and your heart healthy while enjoying yourself at the same time.
It’s just a case of finding an activity you love – once you’ve discovered that, then you’ll find you can keep in great shape and it won’t feel the slightest bit like a chore.
Exercises That Don’t Feel Like A Chore
Here are a few fun activities to try that will help you reshape your body:
1. Go Hiking
Set yourself walking challenges and you’ll find yourself keeping the heart rate up while breathing in the fresh air and enjoying the most incredible views.
It’s a hobby that can take you to the most remarkable places in the country. And is also helps your cardiovascular and pulmonary fitness, improves your management of the likes of high blood pressure and high cholesterol, and can even help your eyesight.
Popular challenge walks include the Three Peaks, where you climb the highest mountains in England, Scotland, and Wales (Scafell Pike, Ben Nevis, and Snowdon, respectively), all within 24 hours.
The Yorkshire Three Peaks and the Welsh 3000s (climbing all of Wales’ 3,000ft summits) are also tackled by many.
Even if you don’t have time for this, just increasing the amount of walking you do in your everyday life will help.
Obviously, if you need to catch the train from London to Bradford each day you won’t be able to do this, but if you live three miles from work, there’s no reason why you can’t go on foot.
2. Dance Cardio
To be honest, any kind of dancing is good for you. So if you’re the sort of person who can bust a few moves in the nightclub, why not try the likes of break dancing or Zumba? You’ll have a lot of fun and they’re all great forms of cardio.
But if you’re after specific cardio dance workouts, there are all sorts of options available online, with YouTube covering just about any kind of move or music you might be into.
Otherwise, check out your local gym, as it may well hold dance cardio classes too.
3. Ice Skating
This is a great form of exercise (and not one you might automatically think of), as it works in almost every muscle group, helps the flexibility of your joints, and gets the heart pumping.
It’s also a lot of fun. It’s rather satisfying building up speed and gliding across the ice. And can be a very sociable form of exercise too.
There are lots of “pop-up” ice rinks each winter, but plenty of permanent ones too. Find the nearest one to you, put on a pair of skates and get gliding.
4. Play Active Video Games
Active video games such as Wii Fit, Wii Sports, or Dance Dance Revolution can easily be counted as a total body workout. And they’re all about fun.
You can even compete with your friends or siblings and make it even more challenging.
Even though playing active video games might seem a bit silly at the beginning, it will grow on you. And it will help grow your muscles too.
5. Jump On The Trampoline
Whenever I hear the phrase “have fun while working out”, I immediately imagine myself jumping on a trampoline with a huge, goofy smile. And this is what a fun workout should be.
So why not using your kids’ trampoline in your backyard as your workout stage. You can jump, flip, and bounce for hours, literally. This is a never-ending fun activity.
Staying fit the fun way is all about participating in something you enjoy. The great thing is you won’t even realize you’re working out until you see how trimmed and toned you look in the mirror!
