Top Five Summer Activities To Keep You Healthy
There’s a better way to stay active during the hot season than spending hours in the gym: try any (or all) of these fun summer activities!
We still have a bit to go before autumn comes and visits us, and some of us are thinking “Hmm… I haven’t fully enjoyed this summer yet. Let’s make up for it all in one weekend!”
While trekking the country in one weekend might be a challenge (though a little impossible), we have a bunch of summer activities to keep you active and healthy.
These summer activities will make you feel like you haven’t gone past these few warm months without doing something important.
And, the great part is, if you own an active dog, you can save some money on your gym membership by training with your pet. This type of activity will significantly improve your health and mood.
Best Summer Activities
If you want to get in shape while exploring the great outdoors, these summer activities are the perfect start for you:
1. Hiking
Hiking is one of the best summer activities because during the warmer months it is most comfortable.
You hike through woods and on mountains that take you away from the scorching heat of the cities.
At the same time, it’s not too cold or damn, so it won’t feel as uncomfortable physically ad it sometimes feels during spring or autumn.
2. Swimming
Of course, a typical summer activity is swimming. But did you know what health benefits this leisure-like sport can bring?
Not only does it improve your heart health and your cardiovascular endurance, but it also builds your muscles.
It’s one of the very few exercises that can activate your entire body. Your hands are used for splashing (and sometimes, moving forwards), your legs just the same, your back is helping your arms move, and your core is keeping you straight.
3. Cycling
When the weather is this nice, it’s a pity to leave your bike in the garage to rust.
This is the perfect summer activity for families too, as you can all go on bike rides around the city, or even outside if you want a longer ride.
Cycling can be done as a leisure activity, and many times we even forget that we are working out.
It’s really pleasant to go about your city on a bike. Just notice the people around you, the buildings and everything that makes that place familiar.
Stop noticing how fast or slow you pedal, or how your breathing is, or if you are sweating. Instead, learn to just enjoy the ride.
4. Frisbee
This summer activity in particular is great if you want to involve your children and pets.
Frisbee is a fun sport, and just like cycling, it doesn’t really make you feel like you’re breaking a sweat because it’s fun.
Another benefit is that you don’t need a lot of equipment. Just a Frisbee and a bit of a good mood to start things right.
5. Inline Skating
During summer, the streets are mostly dry, which makes this season great for those who like inline skating.
Not only does this summer activity help your heart and lungs, but it’s also a very efficient form of cardio. And you can burn as many calories as with running.
It develops your leg muscles and it strengthens your core, and at the same time, it really helps you improve your balance in the long run.
